Courses
Semi-intensive course: 12 hours per week
Intensive course: 20 hours per week
Super-intensive course: 30 hours per week
Modules are 4 hours in the morning and/or afternoon according to the monthly
timetable. One module is 3 hours and 40 minutes of teaching and a 20 minute
break.
Levels
Our study levels are in conformity with the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages
Beginner
No knowledge of the French language.
A1 : Elementary
Limited knowledge of the French language. Can understand simple and
practical information from every day life. Can communicate in a simple way
provided the interlocutor speaks slowly.
A2 : Upper elementary
Basic knowledge. Can understand isolated sentences referring to familiar
areas. Can communicate within current situations and describe in simple
terms topics of personal interest.
B1 : Intermediate
Limited but effective command of the language. Can understand clear and
standard French referring to familiar matters. Can deal with situations
likely to arise while traveling. Can speak about topics of personal
interest and give brief explanations about a project or idea.
B2 : Upper intermediate
General and instinctive command of the language. Can understand the main
ideas of complex texts. Can take part in general or professional
conversations in a clear and detailed way and can argue a point of view.
C1 : Advanced
Good knowledge of the language. Can understand a wide range of long and
complex texts containing implicit information. Can speak fluently, in a
well-structured way on their social, professional or academic life and on
complex topics.
C2 : Upper advanced
Excellent knowledge of the language. Can understand easily almost everything
they hear or read and can summarise everything in a coherent way. Can speak
very fluently and in a subtle way on complex topics.

Certificate
At the end of each session, students receive a certificate indicating their
level of French based on continual assessment in class.
University Diploma
At the end of 11 weeks of lessons or longer, School students take tests to
earn the Diploma “Etudes de Langue et Culture Françaises” awarded jointly by
school and the Université Catholique de Lyon . The diploma, indicating the
level of the European framework obtained, is accompanied by a transcript
(see on ILCF's web site ).
Business French
If your job or university studies require business French, this course could
be the answer and at the same time prepare you to take the Paris Chamber of
Commerce and Industry test (CCIP) (8 students minimum).
Reduced option: A student taking the general French course may add 3
1/2hours per week of a business or tourism course with French students in
our partner school IPAC.
Satisfactory completion of a module grants transferable European university
credit in the form of ECTS.
Specific courses
The school is a test center for the TCF test (Test de Connaissance du Français).
The Ministry of National Education organizes this test to evaluate general
French language proficiency.
The tests take place at school every month except August and December.
These courses are dedicated to students planning to pass the exams of the
DELF and DALF through the National Education Ministry. A minimum of 8
students is required to open the course.
The DELF and DALF official diplomas are delivered by the Minister of
National Education. They certify the level of competency in the French
language for non-French speakers and are recognized in the whole world.
The exams take place at the Université Catholique de Lyon of which school
is an associated partner
